This is one of the most powerful anxiety-reset protocols.
It contains profanity. If you feel sensitive, skip this one.
Sometimes, very calmly, you have to say:
“Fuck this. Fuck everything. I do just not give a fuck anymore. Whatever anyone wants to do, they can do it. I don't care who is where, doing what."
Why it works: anxiety activates your threat system. Your brain treats uncertainty, rejection, loss, or a bad thought as an emergency. Your attention narrows, your thoughts repeat, and you feel pressure to check, text, replay, or solve the situation immediately.
Saying “I do not give a fuck” interrupts that loop. Nothing matters in the long-run anyways. It is a strong reframe that tells your brain: “This is not an emergency, and I do not need to control it right now.” It gives you emotional distance and permission to let go.
If you then stop feeding the anxiety by checking, texting, replaying, or trying to force an outcome, your nervous system learns: “Nothing bad happened when I let this go.” Over time, that can weaken the anxiety cycle.
Dale Carnegie, in *How to Stop Worrying and Start Living*, respectfully and without saying fuck many times, delivers the same idea.
It is not about becoming careless. It is about releasing what you cannot control.
When you are stuck in bed replaying a bad thought, say: “I do not fucking care right now.” Then breathe and let the thought pass without feeding it.
